What You'll Need
This is a super simple DIY project with items you likely already have around your house.
1. Clothes hangers - You, of course, need clothes hangers.
I prefer wire or metal clothes hangers as plastic ones are often too thick to use in this application.
We got ours from IKEA but I've linked to very similar and highly-rated clothes hangers from Amazon.
2. Beverage can tabs - these are the little tabs that you open a can of soda, beer, sparkling water, and other beverages with.
Just keep moving the tab back and forth until it pops off.
If for whatever reason you don't like the look of using the can tabs, there are clothes hanger connector hooks that you can buy.
How to Make Double Clothes Hangers
- Place one hole of the beverage can tab onto the hook portion of the hanger and move it down to the bottom of the hook
- Place another hanger hook into the other hole of the beverage can tab
- Place back in the closet with your desired outfit
How easy is that? I love that this also uses closet space more efficiently to save space for more new outfits.
We also don't have a lot of closet or storage space, so this helps so much with having to keep both summer and winter clothing in the same closet.
Sure, you could always just buy space-saving hangers, but I love that with this tip you don't even have to spend money.
Plus, you can attach as many hangers as you'd want this way if you wanted to put all of your skirts or other clothing items or outfits together.
You could even paint the beverage tabs in specific colors to help keep your closet organized by type of clothing, season, etc.
